In today\u2019s show we give two very real examples: Kalvin, an Australian exchange student living in Germany, who bicycled around Europe without pre-booked accommodation, and Jean, a German student who took the land route to India! For those who don&#8217;t know, <a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/programmes\/erasmus-plus\/node_en\">Erasmus<\/a> is a scholarship for university students coming to or from the EU on exchange programs.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"messageContent\"><\/span><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>absolutely free<br \/><\/strong>Kalvin, an &#8220;Aussie&#8221;, explains how between his two semesters at RheinAhrCampus in\u00a0 Germany he managed to bicycle around\u00a0 Europe for a month without any accommodation except <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/CouchSurfing\">CouchSurfing<\/a>, in winter no less! He outlines why intercultural adventures and plans are incompatible with each other.<\/p>\n<p><strong>absolutely crazy <br \/><\/strong>Jean is our new \u201cGreen Hero\u201d. He explains why on earth he <a href=\"http:\/\/travel-wire.com\/air-travel-vs-land-travel-the-pros-and-cons\/\">traveled by land<\/a> from Germany to India and how he had planned this 25-day trip, how many countries he crossed and what his friends and family thought.<span id=\"messageContent\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>absolutely environmental<br \/><\/strong>Finally, Kalvin shares some rather <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Blizzard#Definition_and_etymology\">dangerous encounters<\/a> and explains how he made friends far from home. Perhaps he was the one who needed to be saved <em>from<\/em> the environment?<\/p>\n<p>Although <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalgeographic.org\/encyclopedia\/greenhouse-effect\/\">greenhouse<\/a> gasses seem too big to comprehend, there are ways we can personally avoid them on our travels, and have more fun along the way. By taking the \u201cgreener\u201d option, we find new opportunities to develop ourselves.<\/p>\n<p>Kalvin is now safely back at RheinAhrCampus as the Chief Editor of this podcast, with the help of our new assistant editors Christopher, also from Australia, and Kofi, from Canada.<\/p>\n<p>Thank you all who listened to the show.
