Could this culture be more democratic and give a voice to participants who in regular seminars would not be heard? Let us listen to <a href=\"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2018\/04\/brock-exchange-offers-worldly-experience\/\">Hannah Peter<\/a> an exchange student from Canada who talks about a Classroom Response System she has tried out as a teaching assistant in lectures at RheinAhrCampus. Then we hear from a professor<a href=\"http:\/\/contacts.ucalgary.ca\/info\/cpsc\/profiles\/102-3070\"> Jalal Kawash<\/a>, also from Canada who has been using Classroom Response Systems for years. Finally,\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.insticc.org\/node\/TechnicalProgram\/csedu\/personDetails\/42CD4BA0-D4FB-40A1-AC39-66BF6A472D4A\">Tsegaye Misikir Tashu<\/a> from Hungary talks about a tool for Automated Essay Evaluation where professors can leave the reading and grading of essays to a computer program. Should we be scared by such innovations in the culture of teaching and learning?<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>absolutely learnable<br \/>\n<\/strong>In our first category \u201cabsolutely learnable\u201d, Hannah Peter from Canada who is both, an exchange student from <a href=\"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/\">Brock University<\/a> in Canada and a course assistant at RheinAhrCampus explains what Classroom Response systems are and how they can change the culture and the teaching methods in the classroom. \u201cHow we learn\u201d is as important as \u201cwhat we learn\u201d in the classroom. Hannah explains how new technology can help give students the confidence to &#8220;speak up&#8221; anonymously in a big group. She suggests ideas to change the culture of teaching by giving more power to the quiet and shy students.<\/p>\n<p><strong>absolutely teachable<br \/>\n<\/strong>In the second category \u201cabsolutely teachable\u201d <a href=\"http:\/\/contacts.ucalgary.ca\/info\/cpsc\/profiles\/102-3070\">Jalal Kawash,<\/a> also from Canada\u00a0talks about the teacher\u2019s perspective of making the classroom more interactive. He is very positive about including CRS in teaching but also warns that technology can backfire when we are not careful about how we use it in the classroom.<\/p>\n<p><strong>absolutely automated<\/strong><br \/>\nIn our final category \u2018absolutely automated\u2019 we hear from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.insticc.org\/node\/TechnicalProgram\/csedu\/personDetails\/42CD4BA0-D4FB-40A1-AC39-66BF6A472D4A\">Tsegaye Misikir Tashu<\/a>, from Hungary who talks about a tool for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.insticc.org\/node\/TechnicalProgram\/csedu\/presentationDetails\/66792\">Automated Essay Evaluation<\/a> which assesses, evaluates, and grades essays automatically without the professor even looking at them, by measuring how close the students get to the professor\u2019s model answers.
